Grievance and Consequence

So, yesterday, more uncomplimentary video of Katie Porter acting the diva emerged.  You remember Ms. Porter – the miserable human we discussed yesterday morning.  This latest release is not nearly as damning as those that preceded it, but it does illustrate, once again, that the woman is ill-tempered, unpleasant and clearly not actually gubernatorial material.

In one of the two earlier releases she stated that she was running for governor because she was “a leader.”  Here is a rule I live by – if someone has to tell you they are a leader, they’re not.

In my mind, the question is who is doing the leaking?  This is very early, so I figure it must be some Democrats that want her out of the way.  She is so bad in these things that #2 in the polls, Republican Steve Hilton, could beat her – even in California.  Further these videos reveal a personality that if politely asked to bow out for the good of the state and the party would most certainly not.

Ms. Porter, like so many Democrats and liberals generally, is driven by grievance.  She feels the world owes her somehow and that is all that is necessary to qualify her for the job.  If asked to step aside, it would be fuel for her attitude of grievance and the resulting sense of entitlement.

Such thoughts occurred to me when I ran across a press release from “Americans United” released prior to the recent SCOTUS arguments on the Colorado freedom of speech/conversion therapy case. The release itself is a vacuous recitation of trite, inconsequential nonsense easily dismissed by any serious consideration of law or reason.  But there, at the top, apparently at the top of their entire website, in bold graphic representation – “Report A Violation.”

A violation of what?  This is not a regulatory agency of any sort.  They enforce no law.  So, in reality a “violation” as they use it is just another word for grievance.  And as we have seen, if you run around with an attitude of grievance, you are cultivating a sense of entitlement.

But it is not always true that grievance produces entitlement.  In point of fact, if we were discussing raising children, then we would note that any child that believes its grievance entitles it to anything is clearly “spoiled.”  And we all know that spoiled children are ugly children.  Sometimes people just need to end up disappointed – that is to say continuing to grieve their grievance.

And so the shutdown is explained.  AOC, et.al. are clearly the spoiled brats with a deep-seated grievance that Donald Trump dare win an election.  Chuck, No-Spine, Schumer is clearly the bad, spoiling parent – more interested in his own comfort than what is good for the child and everyone around it.

Honestly, how did we get here?
