Another virus is spreading quickly throughout China.

HMPV, a respiratory illness, has been spiking in China, and according to China's director of the Institute for Infectious Diseases HMPV is most prominent among children 14 years and younger and in the northern part of the country.

With the Lunar New Year holiday coming up at the end of January, Chinese experts are expecting cases to ramp up even more by the end of the month.

Like COVID, HMPV spreads primarily in droplets from coughing or sneezing. There currently is no vaccine for the illness and there are no treatments other than management of symptoms.
