Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche is set to testify before Congress for the first time since taking over the Justice Department.
Lawmakers are expected to press Blanche over a nearly $1.8 billion “Anti-Weaponization Fund” created to compensate allies of President Donald Trump who claim they were politically targeted.
Critics argue the program is an illegal abuse of power and are asking the courts to block it.
Nearly 100 congressional Democrats have urged a judge to stop the fund from moving forward.
A Utah judge is deciding whether portions of the upcoming preliminary hearing for Tyler Robinson should be closed to the public.
Robinson is accused of killing conservative activist Charlie Kirk on a Utah college campus in September 2025.
Defense attorneys are seeking to seal some evidence and limit public access during the July 6 through July 10 hearing.
Prosecutors say they plan to seek the death penalty if Robinson is convicted.
The hearing is expected to provide the most detailed look at the case so far.

Organizers say the “Donald J. Trump and Jeffrey Epstein Memorial Reading Room” contains roughly 3.5 million pages of files printed and bound into thousands of volumes.
